



Not far from here is the ancient city of Ravenna, the legendary capital of the Byzantine reign, where extraordinary basilicas and mausoleums, made more precious by rare marbles and mosaic decorations, can still be admired. Thanks to the skilful mastery of the byzantine craftsmen, eight of the monuments situated in Ravenna have been declared “world heritage” by the Unesco: San Vitale, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, the Neone’s Baptistry, the New Sant’Apollinare and Sant’Apollinare in Classe, the Arian Baptistry, the Archiepiscopal Chapel and the Mausoleum of Teodorico.
For those people who love the Middle Age history, San Marino, one of the most ancient and littlest republics in the world, is the perfect place to visit. A suggestive historical atmosphere is still visible in the several winding streets, while the city offers a great variety of cultural treasures to see: museums, medieval towers, churches, fortresses, from the loopholes of which in the past the archers defended the city. In summer it is possible to have a relaxing walk along the illuminated streets full of rich souvenir shops and stop then at one of the several welcoming restaurants.
Rimini is famous for its beaches and the lively night life, but it also has a great artistic and historical heritage it is worth visiting. The city centre is full of monuments, churches and archaeological discoveries coming from different eras, some of which perfectly preserved and still very impressive. Some of them have a particular inestimable value, such as the Roman Amphitheatre, the Bridge of Tiberio, the Arch of Augusto, built in the I century A.C. and still intact. The ancient Cardo Romano is the most famous boulevard of this city, where any kind of shops, historical palaces, modern trendy pubs and wine shops can be found. Therefore, a modern city which holds the ancient aspect of a Roman Urbe: this is the reason why there are numerous chances to have fun and discover cultural beauties.
Moreover, the hinterland of Romagna is full of ancient villages which will bring you backwards in time.
Impossible not mentioning the fortress of San Leo, the underground tunnels of Sant’Arcangelo, the mysterious castle of Montebello, where the spirit of the young noble child Azzurrina, dead in unknown circumstances, is believed to be still hunting this place.
And the village of Predappio, located on the hills near Forlì, has a great historical relevance, a particular architectural beauty, and is widely known to be one of the most important centres of wine production in Italy.
